The Afters Visit!!!!!!

(in pic from left - Matt, Me, Josh, Josh of Baker Book House)
This morning I got a phone call from one of my music companies about a band that was in the area and on the way to Baker. This was not just any band- it was The Afters! Well, at least Josh and Matt of The Afters, along with John, their agent, and Vanessa. You know, it's always fun to meet artists in person, but it's even more fun when it's out of the blue! They were very friendly and down to earth, talking about their new album and taking a tour of our store. You know they must spend a great deal of time together when all the guys showed up "accidentally" matching! They were in town to do interviews with WAYFM and WCSG, our local Christian radio stations. Their next and third album releases September 14, so be watching for it! Here is the story behind the new single that is playing on the radio now!

Michael Essex and Vision Visits!

On Saturday night we had the honor to have Michael Essex and Vision in our store for a time of fine music and fellowship. This is one amazing group from the area, in and around Grand Rapids. Two members of their group were missing who are both their regular sopranos, and just to show you the amazing talent of those of the group, the altos stepped up the challenge and sang in a different range. Michael Essex and Vision are a group of people who love the Lord and gifted with great voices to praise his name. They honored us with many small samples of their CD and their new album coming out next month! They have such a unique and diverse sound that the many small samples gave a great view of the possible range of music. One way I would describe them would be to say that they have a great energy and life in their music.

Meet Jars of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Leeland, and Sara Groves at Baker Book House!

Baker is bringing out the stars (with a lot of help from the best concert promoter in the world). It's been a while since we've seen artists like these at Baker Book House, but on Saturday, December 13th at 2:00 P.M., you'll be able to hang out and grab an authograph from Jars of Clay, Sixpence None the Richer, Leeland, and Sara Groves!

We're also going to have a lot of these artists' CDs at a special 2 for $20 deal on the day of the in-store only.

After the in-store, grab a bite to eat with some friends and then head to the big Love Came Down Concert featuring all of the artists from the in-store. The concert starts at 7:00 P.M. You get get tickets here.

Come on out and support your favorite Christian artists (and maybe even your favorite Christian Bookstore too)!

And if you want to hang up a poster at your church or workplace, we're not going to stop you. Download it here.

Downhere Rocked My Socks Off.

This past week, we had Downhere stop by the store and do an impromptu concert for our staff. It was pretty cool. I won't even hold the fact that they are from Canada against them. That's right. I am passing on the opportunity to make fun of Canada.
Did someone put something in my water?
Probably. But that's beside the point.
We got to hear some songs from their new record. The album is called "Ending is Beginning" and it really is a great album. Downhere fans will be blown away. In fact, Downhere-fans-to-be will be blown away as well.
Downhere, if you are reading this, thank you for stopping by. It was an honor to have you come in . You reinforce my Canadian stereotype that all Canadians are just plain nice people. And to Josh from Centricity records and Daniel from Word Distribution, thanks for helping arrange the visit. It was great.
For those of you who are upset that you missed it, sorry. Maybe you should hang out at Baker Book House all hours of the day to see who might stop by.
Barefoot,
Josh Mosey
